Time is flying and I was thinking that it would be nice if every member of this website or fan, in general, would write a short story about her/his present for Connie and about the ideal Christmastime with our beloved actor!

If Connie were alive and if he were my grandfather (he is in a symbolic way), I would give him a special gift: a time machine so we could return to the past and meet all those wonderful people who used to live in the past centuries. What do you think about Connie shaking hands with Michelangelo and discussing with da Vinci about his great inventions?! I think it would be GREAT! This would have been my Christmas present for Connie: a time machine. (Let's forget that the time machine is still a project under construction, and that Connie lived his last Christmas as a human being 69 years ago, in 1942!)

Well, I guess I never really thought about it! I mean, Connie is already in Heaven with Lilly, Viola, his Father and Mother and Karl. What do you get the man who, literally, has everything?!
What I would get him is something Science Fiction writers would scream over. I would have to be very diplomatic about this as we do not which to give the gift and at the same time, tip him off that his end date is close.
My gift would be to show Connie the future. To show him that Hitler would end up defeated, that his beloved Germany would wake up from this madness, that when it was all over, Britain and German would pick up the pieces, physically and Germany would pick up the pieces culturally. I'd like him to know that his investment in the British War Effort paid off greatly. I would also like him to know that Germany would recover its reputation over time and once again be able to stand with the same dignity and honor she had in the pre-Hitler days.
For the fun of it, I would also like to give him the gift of movies! I would like to take my laptop, a good projector and sit Connie, Viola and Lilly (and anybody else from Connie's circle) down and enjoy "The Young Victoria", "The King's Speech" (and just think how proud Connie or any subject of the crown would be to find out the movie about their own beloved monarch won the Academy Award for best picture of 2010) and the BBC's production of the Royal Wedding to Prince William and Kate Middleton.
My guess is that Connie loved anything to do with the Victorian Era. I think he saw in that moment in history the two countries he held most dear above all others not in mortal conflict with each other but getting along. It would be a time when he would not be forced to choose whose side he was on but could be loyal to both without. I would like to present to Connie anything at all I could find on the story of Albert and Victoria. I think he would be thrilled to have them.
Merry Christmas to all my fellow Connie Fans and a very Happy New Year!
Love, Mary Ellen
P.S. - as a stocking stuffer, I would get him a never ending membership to Tuscarora Golf Club, the golf course just down the road from my house, then I would take Monica's time machine and do a preset for the Howlett Hill Road area of Central New York State in the early 21st century. Then have Connie flit back and forth and play a full round of golf anytime he wanted. Of course, Lilly and Viola would be invited to visit and have tea while Connie played.

It's interesting your perspective, Mary Ellen. I see myself travelling with Connie in the glorious past, while you see him in the present and in the future.
I have just created a wonderful clip with Connie, that I will upload on his birthday, on January 22. Will this anniversary of his in 2012 be the last one celebrated by his fans on Earth?

The Christmas Night with Connie should be full of sweets. He so much loved chocolate cake and pastries - but no pudding! I think that Connie could bring the wine and his German beer from Berlin, because he was an expert in this kind of Delicatessen And he would sing with us the most wonderful Christmas carols in front of the tallest and loveliest Christmas tree ever, wishing to each other "Ein frohes und besinnliches Weihnachtsfest!"

During the Christmas celebration, people usually look for entertainment - such as good movies, good music, good tv-shows. If Connie were spending Christmas with me and my family I would choose to show him my personal favourite movies - Gone With the Wind, Dark Journey, The Journey, and The King and I. I am sure he saw GWTW during his lifetime, and as for Dark Journey, I would certainly ask him what were the deleted sequences (I spotted some of them through my collection of photos) and what was it like filming the love scenes with Vivien - who could be present, too, at the celebration I would also show him the two movies with Deborah Kerr (whom he met during the filming of Contraband) and Yul Brynner - I am sure he would be very impressed by these two magnificent actors, who made such a lovely couple! Among the more "modern" films I would show him Le silence de la mer, a superb production of TV5 channel, a remake after the 1949-version. I am sure he would love it, just the way I do! In fact, I am always interested in plots about impossible love stories, because they make a movie more exciting and more emotional.
